Meet JARED
From the childhood ponds fishing with my father to competing with the best anglers in the world, my passion for bass fishing has taken me on an amazing journey that continues to this day. My father was always a fisherman; however mostly a saltwater guy. It wasn’t until my family started camping around the country when I was a little kid, that I discovered my love for freshwater fishing. My passion grew further after my family got a condo down in Orlando Florida just a short drive from Lake Tohopekaliga. It was there where I caught my first bass over 10lbs on the very first trip we ever took on the lake and the second cast of the trip!
My journey into tournament fishing began at the local club level in Long Island New York where I fished my first tournament at age 14.The first three tournaments I ever competed in; I won from the back of the boat. My father and I were beyond excited about these accomplishments but not necessarily the fellow anglers who were being defeated. It wasn't soon after that my father sold his 69' Camaro, told me to hop in the truck, and we drove 17 hours to Alabama to get my very first bass boat. From then on until I was old enough to drive myself, my father drove me to places all over the country either competing with me as a team or seeing me from the stands and for that I am forever grateful.
In March of 2009 I was hit by a drunk driver and that is where my life changed forever. After years of grueling physical therapy, multiple surgeries, and adjusting to living a different lifestyle, I am grateful to wake up every single day and live every day like it is my last. During this time, fishing got me through a lot. That first trip back out on the water after all of this was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
Besides tournament fishing, a passion of mine is introducing/ teaching people how to fish; especially kids. I have also been very involved over the years with multiple charities, most importantly American Cancer Society. I ran a yearly event for five years with a friend of mine who has now passed away, at Candlewood Lake in Connecticut called “Fish for the Cure”. My plan moving forward is to make this event in his honor.
I thank all of you for taking the time out to get to learn who I am as an angler and individual. Please stay in touch for articles, videos, blogs, and more. Tight lines!!
